OMV awarded equity in two blocks in southwest Pakistan

The joint venture will start with 2D seismic operations in the Barkhan Block this month.

OMV has been awarded equity in two blocks in Baluchistan in southwest Pakistan. The first is a 30% stake in the Kalat Block and the second is a 15% stake in the Barkhan Block.

OMV will be part of a joint venture on the blocks that is led by Pakistan Petroleum. Extensive 2D seismic as well as geophysical surveys are planned to investigate potential drilling targets.

Kalat covers 2,482sq km and Barkhan covers 2,105sq km and both contain several structural leads and multiple target reservoirs. The joint venture will start with 2D seismic operations in the Barkhan Block this month.
