Hess reports that its Briseis- 1 exploration well on Australia’s North West Shelf has discovered natural gas in Jurassic and Triassic sandstones.
The well encountered 151ft (46m) of net gas pay, which was in line with pre-drill estimates. Briseis1 is the second of four exploration wells being drilled on the WA-390-P permit by Hess this year and follows the successful Glencoe-1 well, which was unveiled as a discovery in June.
Briseis-1 was drilled by the semisub Jack Bates at a water depth of 3,668ft (1,118m). Following the completion of Briseis-1, the Jack Bates will move 25km to spud the Nimblefoot -1 well.
